HTC Smart Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

What HTC has done with the Smart is to produce a quite clever handset that is relatively low cost. It has a middle-of-the-road set of specifications but good looks, and that might be enough for those on a limited budget. But don't expect fully fledged smartphone capabilities.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

HTC Smart is the HTC’s first experiment of going beyond the Android and Windows Mobile realms. In fact it’s their closest attempt to producing a basic feature phone.

reghardware‘s review Edit

It comes down to what you want from your smart phone. If you need Wi-Fi or GPS, or like to experiment with different apps, this won't be the phone for you. But if you want a decent looking handset that can organise your life, play music and video and surf the web, all for under a oner, it's definitely worth thinking about.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

The HTC Smart might not be the smartest smartphone out of the bunch (think of its higher-end cousins, HTC Desire, or HTC Legend). However, for a basic entry-level phone priced at $358, it pretty much does its job despite the occasional lag encountered, and more importantly for some users, the lack of an app store.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The sturdy design of the HTC Smart probably has something to do with the fact that it's become a company trademark to grace its phones with high-quality and enduring materials. Indeed, the HTC Smart exudes that premium feel so typical of HTC's products.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

There’s ultimately no getting past the fact that the Smart is very much smartphone lite. The lack of apps, contact and calendar synchronisation, maps and GPS means it lags way behind the likes of even the cheapest Android handsets.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

We were initially excited by the HTC Smart when we first saw it. As a package it offers a neat range of features unique at this price point, but the touch response makes it difficult for us to fully stand behind.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

We can see why HTC has decided to bring the Smart to market, but in its quest to keep costs down, the company has simply made too many compromises. HTC should be applauded for making the QWERTY keyboard so usable, but that's not enough to make a great user experience. The lack of Wi-Fi, inability to sync data over the air and the generally awful web browsing experience all add up to a smartphone that's lacking in many key areas.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The HTC Smart does what it promises, providing an inexpensive phone for the masses with some smart features, like Facebook and Twitter integration, and a user-friendly interface. However the lack of an app store and its poor on-screen keyboard limit its appeal.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

With a wealth of high-end smartphones on the market, and eye-catching alternatives such as the fourth-generation iPhone HD and WiMAX-toting HTC EVO 4G just around the corner, it’s easy to forget that the real sales movement happens down at the more affordable levels. Crashing into that market comes the HTC Smart, a smartphone with a spec-sheet that looks anaemic in comparison to most rivals but a similarly slender price tag to boot.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The HTC Smart is a fascinating new entry from the smartphone stalwarts. Its brand new finger-friendly operating system brings a level of usability unseen in this segment before and its build quality is also a step up. However, HTC's claims of it being a smartphone are far wide of the mark. It's good for a budget phone but that's about it. Considering you can pick up slightly older smartphones for bargain basement money these days, we might be inclined to do that instead.
