Palm Pixi Plus Pro Reviews

PC World‘s review Edit

Palm’s sprightly Pixi Plus gets a speed boost with Wi-Fi connectivity and Verizon’s fast 3G network.

PC World‘s review Edit

Palm’s sprightly Pixi Plus is a good, inexpensive addition to AT&T's assortment of smartphones, but some users might have trouble with the tiny, cramped keyboard.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The Pixi Plus succeeds very well as a less expensive version of the Palm Pre, albeit with a smaller screen and slower processor. Palm’s webOS is a joy to use and media playback for both video and music is pretty decent, though no-one will be buying it for the 2Mp camera. If you can get used to the lag of the underpowered processor, it's a very nice little smart phone indeed.

Engadget‘s review Edit

As you can probably tell, it's not a sea change for Palm with the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. In fact, it's barely a bump at all. If you've just purchased one of these devices on Sprint, you may feel a little sting, but don't let it get to you -- they're not markedly better on Verizon -- especially the Pixi.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Palm Pixi Plus has a superb operating system, is very intuitive to use and yet is quirky at the same time. The screen is a bit too small for good multimedia use, and the keyboard not the best to type on. Stylish? Yes. Ergonomic? Not really.

There are many things we like about the Pixi Plus including its slick operating system, and nice form factor. However, its build quality isn't good enough, its keyboard is fairly poor, and it's overpriced.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The "Plus" in the Palm Pixi Plus really means one thing: the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity. Other than that, the phone is identical in specs and design to its predecessor. While the keyboard isn't perfect and WebOS performance can be sluggish, the Pixi Plus is a solid, inexpensive smartphone - and Wi-Fi only bolsters its abilities.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Palm Pixi Plus is like a BlackBerry Curve in that it is likely to be your first venture into the wonderful world of smartphones. On that front, the OS does well to bring you into the fold without over-complicating things. The touchscreen is a great advantage over the BlackBerry models. The problem for us, however, is that the handset itself feels sluggish with the processor not having oomph to open apps quickly, leaving you waiting for something to happen. It's not an age, but it's not instant either.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Palm Pixi Plus is as pleasant as ever. But even when free with a two-year contract, it's tough to choose over the superior Palm Pre—or the iPhone 3GS, for that matter.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Viewed in those terms, it’s hard not to see why Palm has made some of the decisions they have with the Pixi Plus. It still adds up to a device that’s frustrating in certain ways for established smartphone consumers, but is also likely the best way forward for a company – despite new owners – that still looks to be on relatively shaky ground. The Pixi Plus’ strengths are in webOS’ extreme ease of use, and if you – or your less tech-obsessed family and friends – have been considering stepping up from your featurephone then there’s far less of a learning curve involved than rival devices running, say, Android.

Palm adds Wi-Fi and a convenient hotspot app to its messaging-friendly smart phone, but the Pre Plus is a better value.

phonedog‘s review Edit

As much as I love the overall design and form factor of the Palm Pixi Plus, the device is clearly marketed towards a particular demographic: women and first-time smartphone buyers. If you're migrating from a feature phone and are looking for a nice entry-level smartphone that is easy to use, the Pixi Plus (and webOS) is perfect for you.

mobiledia‘s review Edit

The Pixi Plus is a good fit for someone looking to stay connected with friends, family and colleagues on a continual basis, surf the Web with speed, and carry a lightweight phone with both a keypad and a touch screen. It may not suite those that prefer a simpler phone with just a keypad, a messaging system that groups only by messaging medium, and more battery life. It's also not the best fit for someone who wants to sacrifice slimness for a larger screen, prefers a touch-screen only phone, and wants more built-in applications and a better camera with camcorder.

Verizon's Palm Pixi Plus is small, light, and inexpensive but still powerful. It runs the webOS, and offers a very robust web browser, built-in keyboard, 3G, Wi-Fi, and much more.

The new Pixi Plus for Verizon Wireless is one of Palm's latest webOS smartphones. This update of the original Pixi sports WiFi connectivity and the ability to work as a 3G WiFi modem.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The watered down hardware in the Pixi Plus makes it a poor choice beside the far more potent Pre Plus waiting just $70 up the price scale, but its killer design will still find adoring fans.

Geek‘s review Edit

The $99.99 Palm Pixi Plus is Verizon Wireless’ version of the original device that launched on Sprint last year. The “Plus” actually means something: it has 8GB of storage and a new 3G Hotspot feature. From its webOS operating system to its comfortable keyboard and good call quality, it’s a device that’s sure to please more than just a few Verizon Wireless customers.

The Palm Pixi swoops into stores just in time for the holidays. Was Palm able to give the Pixi a magic touch, or does it need another dose of pixie dust to really take off?
