Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

A beautiful design with a great camera, however the Symbian operating system creaks under the weight of Vodafone's branding, making it a nightmare to use.

Neither video nor stills shooting are entirely without their problems, and we aren't bowled over by S60 either. But these things noted, the 720p video shooting could still be a lure for you.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

The Vivaz is definitely a good choice for those looking for a multimedia-centric mobile device - it displays decent audio playback, takes above-average photos, and has functional video-recording capabilities. At $798, it is a steal, simply because you are playing for a phone with capabilities close to a compact camera. However, if you are looking for a mobile phone that offers you a more modern user interface and a greater variety of apps, then you might have to look elsewhere.

reghardware‘s review Edit

The Vivaz is a beautifully finished style phone that's backed up by a wealth of smart phone functionality and a genuinely marvellous camera. The HD 720p recording is quite possibly the best we've seen and the still camera is no slouch either, though we missed Cybershot goodies like the BestPic option.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a well designed smartphone with plenty of features, but it's ultimately let down by the drab and outdated Symbian operating system.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

For a mid-to-high range feature phone, we were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. As a phone it performed well and we were impressed with the music player and camera functions – the main features of the phone. Such a shame, then, that little things let it down; we were constantly annoyed by the key lock function, the temperamental auto-rotate and the schizophrenic internet settings.

letsgomobile‘s review Edit

Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a cell phone with a sleek design which you would not relate with Sony Ericsson right away. Together with the recently introduced Sony Ericsson X10, the Vivaz belongs to a whole new line of Sony Ericsson smartphones. The Vivaz is handy and lightweight. The screen is clear, but the touch screen does not react sufficiently, as you often have to push down a lot. The camera is a piece in which Sony Ericsson cell phones stand out, and in the Vivaz as well.

Great looks, smart functionality and a cracking HD video camera.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

Sony Ericsson have been limping on profits lately but their ambitions seem to not have suffered one bit. There is the Satio, now the Vivaz and with the XPERIA X10 on its way, the company is gaining a firm foothold in the high-end segment.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

There is no doubt that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz offers a lot. It punches well above its weight when it comes to video and photos, offering one of the best camera phones we've seen to date. It does suffer in low light, however, and the LED flash won't help you out too much, so don’t expect to get good results in a gloomy pub.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is an odd beast. On the one hand, its combination of a slim design, good basic features, impressive battery life, and HD video recording abilities make it quite appealing. However, it feels cheap, has a poor touchscreen, and the interface leaves a lot to be desired.

Engadget‘s review Edit

The Vivaz is no doubt a good specimen for showing what Sony Ericsson does best - great video and photo capture along with a user-friendly media playback interface, not to mention being a world's first with its nice continuous auto-focus 720p video recording.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the second model of the “communication entertainment” series of the manufacturer, with the first being the Xperia X10. The most powerful weapon of the Vivaz is its HD video capture and playback capabilities...
