After a number of failed attempts in the Android tablet market, Dell is looking to readdress the tablet space with Windows 8. According to a leaked document obtained by Neowin, Dell will launch a 10.8-inch tablet with 1,366 x 768-pixel resolution and a dual-core Atom processor later this year. The slate will also be equipped with a fingerprint reader, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, Intel graphics, 2GB of RAM and a massive 128GB solid-state drive. Unlike many other tablets, Dell has included a removable battery that will come in two sizes. A smaller battery will get between six and eight hours of battery life, while a larger one will offer between 10 and 12 hou...

While Dell has previously promised a Windows 8 enterprise tablet "on the exact day" the new operating system debuts, we haven't heard any firm plans for its consumer offerings. Neowin has posted two separate images of what it claims are Dell's two Windows 8 tablets. The XPS 12 is said to be a convertible 12.5-inch tablet (similar to the company's Inspiron Duo) with an edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass display, due in late 2012.

Microsoft is rolling a hard six with their tablet strategy in Windows 8, and while it might be a hard sale with iPad crazy consumers, at least in the Enterprise they have a fighting chance. Dell knows this, and plans to be ready to go with tablet offerings for businesses on Windows 8 launch day. The information came from a Bloomberg interview conducted last week in which CEO Michael Dell praised the new Microsoft OS, and claims demand will be strong for a “secure Windows tablet that works with all Windows applications”.

Dell to re-enter tablet market later this year
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsDell
After failing to catch on in the smartphone business, Dell is turning its gaze toward the tablet market. According to a report by Reuters, Dell will soon announce that it is going to produce a consumer oriented tablet later this year, The company says that it now understands not only the hardware involved in producing a tablet, but also gets how consumers care about the products "ecosystem".
While Dell tried to make a name for itself in the smartphone business with Android powered handsets, it ended up failing which prompted Michael Dell to say that the OS had not developed to expectations. The company did try its hand at producing a tablet with the enterprise focused Dell Streak 7. While ...

Dell Streak 7 Android tablet discontinued
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsDellStreak 7
Like the Streak 5 before it, Dell has discontinued the Streak 7 tablet from its online store. The T-Mobile variant was similarly removed from the carrier's store earlier this year after being ignominiously denied a Honeycomb update, with a tiny moment back in the spotlight during T-Mobile's "Magenta Saturday sale."
Dell's site simply says that "Steak 7 is no longer available online, but you can browse our other mobile devices for similar products." The company's mobile products selection is actually looking pretty thin these days, with the Inspiron Duo holding down tablet duties and the Venue and Venue Pro smartphones still available. That leaves a pretty large hole for an Android tablet to ...
