Asus teases Retina Display Tablet for MWC 2012?

Asus teases Retina Display Tablet for MWC 2012?

Posted on Feb 24, 2012 by MG15

The iPad 3 is going to double the resolution with its new Retina Display. I already pointed out in this report that I believe that the Android camp will try to beat Apple to the punch with a Retina display tablet. It could well be that Asus will show a tablet with retina display resolution at the MWC 2012. Asus released another MWC 2012 teaser video. The new one is titled: "Twice the Detail, Twice the Fun." The teaser is clearly about display resolution. The form factor of the box filled with balls resembles a tablet. Watch the Asus teaser video below. Earlier today we reported about another Asus MWC 2012 teaser video that is about a new transformer tablet with smartphone integration.

Asus Padfone to launch at Mobile World Congress 2012

Asus Padfone to launch at Mobile World Congress 2012

Posted on Jan 11, 2012 by MG15

What's this? Mention of a tradeshow that isn't CES 2012 in the headline of a news story in early January? You read correctly, as the Asus PadFone is now set to be unveiled in February. As you know, February is the reserve of Mobile World Congress 2012 – although Asus did have to take to CES 2012 to confirm the announcement, as well as showing off the PadFone on its Vegas stand. Nothing much else new to report really; the 4.3-inch PadFone is still set to come with Ice Cream Sandwich and we still don't know for sure whether or not it'll come with the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

Asus Padfone gets benchmarked, dual core Qualcomm S4 inside

Anyone remember the Asus Padfone? It was announced way back in May of this year, only to be delayed until 2012 while Asus tweaks it so that it can run Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Google’s Android operating system. What makes the Padfone unique is that it slides into a tablet cradle, transforming the device into what’s essentially a 10 inch tablet. Whether or not the concept takes off doesn’t really concern us at this point, what we’re interested in is the Qualcomm S4 that’s recently been discovered to be at the heart of the Padfone. Thanks to someone who ran GLBenchmark on the Padfone, we now know that the latest revision of the device comes with a Qualcomm MSM8960, the first t...

Asus Padfone release date comfirmed

Asus Padfone release date comfirmed

Fusion-fans will be overjoyed to hear the Asus Padfone release date has finally been unveiled.
Jonney Shih, Asus Chairman, took to the stage at AsiaD to confirm that the tablet and phone combination will be launched in Q1 2012.
He also stated that Ice Cream Sandwich would indeed also be on board the tablet-phone combination, which is something of a blessing given that many phones will be running or about the run Android 4.0 when the phone is launched.
In fairness to Shih, this isn't really anything new - Asus promised to deliver the Padfone in 'early 2012' when the phone was launched in June this year and it seems that promise is holding.

So far, LG has been the only real manufacturer throwing around Windows Phone 7 hardware to developers (HTC has one in the oven, mind you), and it seems like Asus is ready to play too.
