Taher Elgamal, creator of the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology that adds a measure of encryption and security to Internet communication, sees a problem with the current system.
Speaking with the BBC, Elgamal noted that there's nothing wrong with the technology and encryption itself (SSL is predecessor of the Transport Layer Security, or TLS, that's used now), but rather the parties involved in implementing it.
