Twitter has announced that there are now over 1 million third-party apps from 750,000 developers registered to use the service. A new app gets registered every 1.5 seconds. Just one year ago, the platform laid claim to 150,000 third-party apps, so the growth is truly tremendous. In response to this growth, Twitter has set up a new developer website to help new and seasoned developers alike get help with their apps and connect with Twitter engineers. This is in stark contrast to the stance Twitter took just a few months ago, when it requested that developers no longer duplicate services already covered by Twitter's in-house apps. »read more
