Not too many people batted an eye at speculation that Research in Motion, the company behind all Blackberry products, would be putting an end to the WiFi version of its Playbook tablet.
But RIM has something to say about it - namely that such speculation is completely baseless.
RBC Capital Markets managing director Mike Abramsky wrote in a note to investors that RIM could possibly pull the WiFi-only Playbook models and focus exclusively on mobile carrier-support 3G-enabled versions of the device.
Abramsky posited that RIM would immediately stop production of the WiFi model but continue to market and sell through its existing inventory. »read more
