Research In Motion (RIM) rushed out the BlackBerry PlayBook earlier this year that received little love for its many platform shortcomings—check out our review. The tablet was based on RIM’s new QNX OS, to which the company is struggling to transition. Although the promised 4G version of the tablet has yet to arrive, there are already reports that RIM may discontinue the Wi-Fi model.
In a note to investors, RBC Capital Markets Managing Director Mike Abramsky reported that the company may discontinue its production of the Wi-Fi BlackBerry PlayBook. This model is the only one the company currently produces, as the 3G/4G version is still in the horizon. »read more
