While Nintendo has said the next version of the Wii home console will have a better online experience, it sounds like it still won't be up to par with the PS3 or the Xbox 360.
And according to Nintendo, that is its own decision. It believes in letting third-party companies create their own, individualized online platforms, rather than creating a centralized network like the PSN or Xbox Live.
In an interview with Forbes, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said the company's next home console will have a more robust online experience, commenting, "What we’re doing is creating a much more flexible system that will allow the best approaches by independent publishers to come to bear." »read more
