E5200 overclocking - how much?

Hey guys, looking for some basic info on overclocking my processor. I've already got custom cooler and now want to get things moving. By default it runs at 2.5GHz, I'd like to speed it up to 3.0 max, but not necessary. What I'm looking for is a stable system rather than experimenting. What should I look for? What are the recommendations? Anything else besides the custom cooler?

He is talking for some minor overclock, so he should be real lame to fry his CPU
Minor or not if the fan stops working it is all fried :) I`m interested in the cooling he`ll be using
I can't understand how's that "if the fan stops work" ?
