Problem with lockout on HP Probook 4440s

Purchased an HP Probook 4440s used at auction without power cord and upon securing one and charging the battery I could not get the unit to power up. I now find that there is a pre-power up lock on the unit and don't know where to turn for assistance since I was given no key at the household auction. Can anyone help?
