Need a help

Posted by Trixey on Feb 25, 2011

Before a month I bought this notebook and had no problems till yesterday. When I turned it on, there was a black screen with "Operating system not found". What can be the problem? I didn't install any new programs or updates... :S

Level 3 The message "Operating system not found" and failing to start Windows could be caused by:

- hard drive detection failure or damaged hard drive
- incorrect MBR (master boot record)

I'd take it to the nearest lenovo service center, considering it's just a couple of weeks old and still have warranty.

Level 2 There was a virus that damages the MBR I believe that was your problem....the solution:reinstall and put a decent antivirus software next time

Level 3 I fixed it...it was something so stupid. I forgot my flash drive connected and when I turned on my laptop, it was searching to boot Win from the flash drive....I change the boot priority and it's OK now

Level 2 Always check the boot priority :)
