I just bought a gateway dx4860-ur31p which comes with integrated intel hd 2000 video. I want to upgrade to a card for a bit more gaming. can any one recommend some video cards.

It depends on your price range. There are lots of option and if it fits the bill I'll recommend an NVIDIA GTX 560Ti.

How much money you are going to spend and what monitor do you use (resolution)? NVIDIA GTX 560Ti is pretty good video card, but costs around $200-$240

There are plenty of opinions and you might want to make sure the power supply unit can be able to handle a good gpu like the NVIDIA GTX 560Ti.
