While a proper, untethered iOS 5 jailbreak hasn’t been publicly released just yet, it’s a different story for those willing to put up with a tethered jailbreak. iOS 5 can be busted with Redsn0w, and now the latest firmware update, iOS 5.0.1, which is supposed to fix iPhone 4S battery life has been too.
Now there are a few caveats to this latest iOS 5 jailbreak: this does not work with dual-core iOS devices, so will only work with the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and original iPad, and not the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. A tethered jailbreak also requires your iPhone to be plugged into a PC running Redsnow every time you need to restart, which can be a serious inconvenience. »read more
