Microsoft clears the air: No plans to build phones of its own

Following Microsoft's big Surface tablet and Windows Phone 8 announcements last week, many have speculated that the company was also planning on building its own smartphones in addition to its own tablets. It doesn't appear that this is the case, however, as Microsoft has revealed that it has no plans to build a phone of its own.
Speaking to Information Week, Microsoft's senior marketing manager for Windows Phone, Greg Sullivan, stated that the company does not intend to produce its own phone hardware. "We have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with," clarified Sullivan. »read more
