Error while installing Windows 7 SP1

When I try to install service pack 1, it gives me: error 0x80073701 ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING...what means this?

Level 4 Try using the System Readiness utility before installing the SP1 update:

Win 7 32-bit: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink​/?linkid=181491
Win 7 64-bit: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink​/?linkid=181492

Also some people over at MS forums suggest connecting your PC to internet even for an off-line installation (downloaded update as an .exe or .iso).

Level 9 Probably means some system files are missing or corrupted... try following the links @leviathan posted and post what happened so that we can help further...
