IPv6: Is the future so bright?

What do you think, will IPv6 solve any of the problems and exploits currently made possible by IPv4?

After the range of IPv4 addresses finally runs out IPv6 is the only possible way for the global network to continue its existence. It is expected, that IPv6 will be more secure and will give the networks some performance boost. Of course, until the entire infrastructure is 100% functional we can`t tell that for sure...so only time will tell
I don't understand why we are still going with IPv4 when the IPv6 has been around for a few years now, if not a decade.
