How to back up and restore Windows 7 including all installed software?

I'm planning on upgrading my hardware which will include graphics, motherboard and CPU. Is there a way to move windows 7 on to the new hardware without having to re-install every software program I have currently installed?

The only thing you should do is revert the hard disk controller to the Windows standard one. Afterwards windows 7 will detect and try to install drivers for the new detected hardware.
Device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Right-click on the disk controller and click Properties->Driver Tab -> Update driver -> Browse your computer/Let me pick
- For a SATA drive: Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
- For an IDE drive: Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
I haven't heard about the Sysprep method mentioned above, which seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Can anyone confirm a successful transition to a new system using that method?
