You can try Ubuntu Netbook edition for full featured OS or Windows 7 Home for not that full featured OS :) you decide which one suits your need best...if I were you I`d definately go for the Ubuntu
Thanks, I've also heard about modified ubuntu version called Lubuntu. Any idea how good is that? I'll try to resurrect an old eee pc, and really need something light enough for it.

Windows 7 Home Basic.....tested and proved :D
Xubuntu and are light Linux Mint 11 LXDE are good and light. the later boots nicely off my 512MB ram Pentium4 Desktop
