LG is one of the big names in the OLED TV market. Today, the company announced that they will officially launch their new 55” OLED TV during the Cannes film festival this week. The 55EM9600 is capable of displaying full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 100000000:1 contrast ratio. It also includes 3D and smart TV technology. The TV will officially release tomorrow at the beginning of the festival, which is a lot sooner than Samsung announced the release of their display. LG states that the panel will include a 4mm thickness and will only weigh 7.5 kg (16.5 lbs). The 55EM9600 will also cost less than the Samsung OLED HDTV as it is priced at about $8000. »read more
