Apple is slowing down iPad 2 production, gearing up for the iPad 3

Apple is purportedly slowing down iPad 2 production with 9.7-inch display shipment orders decreasing in the fourth quarter. Samsung, LG Display and Chimei Innolux have all received less orders from Cupertino in the last trimester, according to a DigiTimes report.
The slowdown could be due to Apple already having a surplus which it can rely on and could also be related to the upcoming production of the next-generation iPad. Samsung and sharp have reportedly already started shipping displays for what's expected to be the iPad 3 in October. Wintek and TPK Holding making touch panels for the next iPad, are expected to start shipping them in the November-December timeframe. »read more
