Motorola, T-Mobile explain use of Carrier IQ

Last week Sprint, AT&T, Samsung, and HTC responded to Senator Al Franken's request for more information on how they were using Carrier IQ on their customers' phones, and to what extent it was deployed. Yesterday, T-Mobile and Motorola submitted their responses to the letter.
T-Mobile says that it uses Carrier IQ on some of its high-end smartphones, including the HTC Amaze 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S II. It estimates that there are approximately 450,000 devices in use on its network that report data collected from Carrier IQ software.
