What's the best home wireless router?
Follow Discussion
I'm looking for a reliable wireless router for home use. The signal should cover 2 floors, thus external antennas would be more appropriate, I think. It will be connected to internet through a RJ45 port. The most important is to be reliable and stable, without a need of day-to-day restarts/resets.
What do you guys have/had and what would you recommend from your experience with wireless routers?

You can try TP-LINK TD-W8961ND as a simple solution (http://www.meetgadget.com/gadget/24135/TP-LINK+TD-W8961ND)
or get Linksys WRT54GL flash it with dd-wrt firmware and won`t have any problems :)
Take TP-Link TL-WR1043ND, it's cheap (compared to other superfast modems). It's not dual band, but uses three antennas to maximize the standard 2.4GHz signal.
You should check out Linksys/Cisco for their offerings within your budget, you won't be disappointed. Couldn't help with a current hardware models since I'm using an old one (WRT54G), but my next one will definitely be from that brand too. I've had no serious problems with it's factory firmware, also pretty stable in terms of continuous operation. A couple of resets are needed now and then, but far from regular.
+1 for TP-Link TL-WR1043ND. It's cheaper than Linksys/Cisco models, but still very fast and good router :)
I had the Linksys wrt54g for years and it worked great. Replaced it 4 months ago with the NETGEAR N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400. Got it at Best Buy for $69.? I think. It's been awesome. I'm broadcasting through 3 floors in an old house. No problems and it screams. This is a deal. I researched everything before I bought it. Make sure you tweak the settings. Just Google it. Good luck.
I always was a d-link fan. But when a product is this good, it's time to switch brands. Netgear WNDR3700. Probably one of the best wireless N routers out there. Lots of positive reviews. Incredible range.
