During a third quarter earnings call, Qualcomm Executive VP Steven Mollenkopf revealed the company's first 28-nanometer device will go commercial at the end of the year, AndroidAndMe reported. The chip architecture, codenamed Krait, is most likely to show up in HTC hardware. More than one source told AndroidAndMe that prototype devices with Krait have been provided to Google.
The chip will also have 65 percent lower power consumption that current ARM-based CPU cores, Qualcomm claims, though which ARM chips it's exactly comparing them to isn't known.
