Ok, so I hear a lot about phone=wallet and stuff, but how's that going to work? How about the supported places you can actually use it?

NFC literally means "Near Field Communication", it allows two devices with this kind of chip to transfer small amount of data(credit card info, coupons etc.) between each other. The connection is very sensitive so you`ll have to be close to the other device for the NFC transfer to take place. As far as I read the technology that it uses is close to the technology of RFID microchips.Supposedly the technology will be used in door lock systems, health-monitoring systems, coffee machines, any kind of payment systems...it is basically a virtual version of your credit card. You can check at Google Wallet`s website where you can use it and which merchants already support this feature.

Basically Immortal covered it all, but NFC technology is not only limited to payments and access tech. It can be use for information purposes as well, chips embedded in posters which will give you more info about the event and help you buy tickets etc. Its pretty neat, but without infrastructure there is little chance that it will ever go mainstream. The banks should make the commitment in integrating it, so the manufacturers of cell phones can start implementing it as well.
