Why Intels SSDs are so expensive

It's sounds stupid, but I can't understand why a 64GB Crucial SATA3 SSD drive costs around $130 while a 64GB Intel SATA2 SSD will cost you $600? I can't believe that only the "brand" raises the price so much.

As in any other type of computer components when a part gets outdated they push the price of the older one higher in order to push the users to the new standard. For example when DDR2 RAM started selling the DDR1 got extremely expensive and it was cheaper to upgrade then to buy DDR1.

Man we are talking about SSD, how old can be this technology, that it already is outdated...

hmm.... can you please share with us where you checked the prices? I got curious and checked the prices at newegg and 40GB Intel SSD sata 2 is $99, $200 for the 80 gig. They have an Extreme sth drive that is $375 for a 32gig version, dunno why is that though :(.
