Why not, they are portable and powerful soundsystems you can power with batteries and throw a party in the wilderness. As for the iPod dock it seems that it is becoming a must nowadays. A good sound system should have both optical drive and ipod connectivity, be it dock, cable or sth that can control your pmp's music database.

Yes, but when all things are getting smaller and smaller I think this kind of device is out of its age....and I don't think they are "portable"??? Ipod nano IS portable for example
