Noisy cooler - fix without opening notebook's case?

Posted by ndroid on Apr 12, 2011

Hi, my notebook's cooling fan is apparently full of dust, but I don't have the time and knowledge to open it and put it back together in a proper operating condition. Is there a quick fix for that?

I will try with a vacuum cleaner :)

The best thing to do is to open it and clean it. It's not so hard to do and is vital for your notebook

Or if the warranty is still active return it to wherever you bought it from and have them clean it

Mine started to heat up quite a bit and all I did was blow some air in the exhaust port and the dust came out of the intake. This is done with the laptop off obviously :). Not the best solution, but it postpones the problem a bit.

I tried this and works for the moment, but I should definitely clean my notebook.

You can also use gas duster to spray some air into the fan without opening the case. I'm expecting questionable results, since I haven't tried it myself.

And where will go the dust when you spray the air?

Round the fan and out, I guess?
