Level 7 Take nVidia video card, it will have CUDA and CUDA is great for video editing :)

Level 3 A Nvidia Quadro card will be your best bet. I'm not sure how the AMD Fire cards with stream stack up, but currently CUDA is more popular and will bring you more performance gains.

Level 3 The Quadro series are supposed to be handling video editing better, while GeForce series are oriented towards gaming. However, a good GeForce device can do the job pretty well. Also looking at some pro desktop configs ATI Radeon HD 5770 or 5870 are possible candidates as well.

How about these two ($600+):

PNY nVidia VCQ4000-PB Quadro 4000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0

Level 7 Quadro series are pro, so they are very expensive. If you are going to use the card at home, I don't think you'll need Quadro.
