A brand new Archos Android tablet is on the way, and just like its cost-sensitive predecessors, we expect this lovely looking new transformable piece of equipment to be a mass release. The folks at Archos have never been shy about their ability to release tablets with a lower price-tag than the competition at the same time as offering many of the same high-rise specifications as their peers, this unit looking to do just that once again. This is the Archos G10 xs series tablet PC, and by the looks of it, it’ll be flipping open and converting in a store near you soon!

However, rumors earlier this week suggested a Windows 8 tablet was in the pipeline for later this year.

The new iPad doesn't allow FaceTime over LTE

The new iPad doesn't allow FaceTime over LTE

Filed in: TabletsAppleiPad 3

We've just confirmed that although the new iPad has incredibly fast download and upload speeds over LTE, FaceTime video chat still won't work directly on the 4G network. As you can see in the positively vexing screenshot above, attempting to initiate a FaceTime call over LTE fails out with a message exhorting you to connect to a Wi-Fi network. It's the exact same behavior that iOS devices on 3G networks have always exhibited, but it's doubly frustrating as Verizon's LTE plans for the new iPad include Wi-Fi hotspot functionality at no extra cost. In other words, you could easily initiate a Wi-Fi hotspot from your new Verizon LTE iPad and use it to successfully make a FaceTime call from an iPh...

Signs posted around Hong Kong Apple Store say new iPad won't be sold on first-come first-served basis

Things are a little different at the Apple Store in Hong Kong. While we might expect to see long lines at most of the other Apple Stores around the world and some jockeying for position as the new iPad is sold on a first-come, first-served basis, signs posted outside the Apple Store in Hong Kong specifically prohibit certain activities. In English, the signs say "No Staying or Queuing up here. Apple will not serve on a first come first served basis for new iPad. Please refer to Apple's official website for the detailed arrangement". Without an Apple on the post, it seems that it is the Hong Kong Police who posted the signs. The new Apple iPad launches this Friday, March 16th at many location...

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 gets its first post ICS software update

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 gets its first post ICS software update

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Last month, Asus Eee Pad Transformer owners were given the delightful news about the tablet’s in with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Of course, the software update eventually made its way to tablet owners, but it doesn’t seem that things have been going smoothly for some people – and in fact, the update has been wreaking havoc instead.
Well folks, Asus is doing things right, naturally, as Asus’ first-generation Android tablet is seeing its first post Ice Cream Sandwich update. Specifically, the new update for the tablet is labeled 9.2.1.17-20123012, but there’s no changelog attached to it. Therefore, it’s anyone’s guess as to exactly what the new software update actually brings to the table...

The new iPad is landing Friday, March 16, and Apple has just confirmed that you’ll be able to pick up the new tablet bright and early. The new iPad will go on sale at 8 a.m. this Friday.
Apple has said that the demand for the new iPad is “off the charts,” so if you want to pick one up early on March 16, it looks like you may have to wait in a long line. I’m not a fan of waiting overnight for any products but I’m sure there will be Apple stores across the world with people waiting overnight to get their hands on its latest tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) clears the FCC hurdle

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) clears the FCC hurdle

Posted on Mar 15, 2012 by MG3

Samsung’s second coming of the original Galaxy Tab, ya’ know the 7-inch model, is at the FCC where government paid engineers are having a time of their life playing with it. Actually, they probably had better days while testing Tegra 3 devices, but the Galaxy Tab 2 is a neat device, too. At least, it’s easier to hold in one hand…

Google's Nexus Tablet May Arrive in May from Asus

Google reportedly went through several manufacturers before settling on Asus to develop its 7-inch "Kindle Fire killer," the Google Nexus tablet. The duo is expected to unveil the device as early as May with the previously reported price range of $199 to $249 USD. The news arrives after Google debunked rumors that the tablet would be called Google Play, as it consolidated its four main services into one network brand using that very name.

Dell Plans To Be Ready on Windows 8 Launch Day With Enterprise Tablets

Posted on Mar 12, 2012 by MG3

Microsoft is rolling a hard six with their tablet strategy in Windows 8, and while it might be a hard sale with iPad crazy consumers, at least in the Enterprise they have a fighting chance. Dell knows this, and plans to be ready to go with tablet offerings for businesses on Windows 8 launch day. The information came from a Bloomberg interview conducted last week in which CEO Michael Dell praised the new Microsoft OS, and claims demand will be strong for a “secure Windows tablet that works with all Windows applications”.

The new iPad arrived with a bang on Wednesday and you’ve had enough time to read our initial thoughts, check out the specs, drool on that new Retina display and appreciate its addition of LTE connectivity with no battery life sacrifices. In a nutshell, you want it. Just like you wanted the iPad 2 and just like you wanted the OG iPad.
But do you just stack it up along with that “old iPad” that just now looks terribly outdated in your eyes? And are you ready to just feed Apple another $500 or more without getting anything back for your iPad?
There are a couple of ways to sell your old iPad and not feel all that bad for getting the new one. You probably know the standard drill. You auction the ...

iPad 3 to run iOS 6.0

Filed in: TabletsAppleiPad 3

This week sites appear to be finding a new operating system popping up in their access logs, these logs showing not just an unknown iPad version with iOS 6.0 and a new version of a web browser. This version of the iPad has been said more than a coincidental amount of times to be having a high definition display and an improved set of hardware to support it, as well as a slightly less likely ability to run on 4G LTE networks across the nation. Signs in access logs today suggest that this device will be running a new version of the iOS Apple mobile operating system along with a version 535.8 of the web browser that comes with the operating system.

Do Apple Employees Already Have iPads with iOS 6?

Do Apple Employees Already Have iPads with iOS 6?

Filed in: TabletsApple

Everyone's been digging through their web analytics looking for clues about the next iPad. But the rush to sift out details about new bits of hardware may have turned up Apple's next mobile operating system. Ars Technica claims that iPads running iOS 6 have been visiting its page, and the IP addresses locate them in Cupertino.
The iOS 6-using visitors are on top of visits from devices with a 2048x1536 resolution, which is the same as the rumored HD display attached to the next iPad. That said, user agents are easily spoofed by simple plugins for a number of browsers, so proceed with caution. Whatever the case, we probably won't see iOS 6 until later in the year, but if Ars is right, it's alr...

Motorola XOOM 32GB Wi-Fi is on the cheap for today only at $299

Motorola XOOM 32GB Wi-Fi is on the cheap for today only at $299

Posted on Mar 05, 2012 by MG1

Last time we heard about the Motorola XOOM, it wasn’t necessarily good news as Motorola was trying to track down improperly refurbished units that were eventually sold by Woot.com containing personal information from previous owners. Well, if you can somehow overcome that fear, you might take fancy in the fact that it’s selling for a mere $304.98 with shipping included.
Specifically, daily sales web site 1saleaday.com is offering the once beloved and first Honeycomb flavored tablet at the super low price point, but it’s worth mentioning that it’s a factory-refurbished unit. Yeah, we know what you’re thinking, especially after hearing about the fiasco from not too long ago. Nevertheless, it’s...

iPad 3 launch may include 8GB low-cost iPad 2

iPad 3 launch may include 8GB low-cost iPad 2

Posted on Mar 02, 2012 by MG1

Apple may be introducing two iPad 3 models and one lower-cost 8GB version of the iPad 2 at next week’s event, according to Digitimes, citing sources in the company’s upstream supply chain. Although this seems like an odd move, the source claims that the cheaper iPad 2 model will help Apple cover different segments to defend against upcoming Windows 8 tablets.
There’s been plenty of speculation around the iPad 3 with the most prominent rumor being the use of a Retina Display-like screen with Full HD resolution of 2048 x 1536 or a pixel density of 264dpi. As a result, some reports claim that the next-gen iPad may be called the iPad HD instead of the iPad 3.
