We all know Samsung will rollout the Android 4.0 update for its super-popular Galaxy S II smartphone later this year. However, Sprint customers may be wondering whether they’ll have to wait longer, since their particular version of the device (Epic 4G Touch) is specific, made to sing along the carrier’s WiMAX network. Plus, Sprint (and other mobile operators for that matter) always want to test the phone software thoroughly before releasing it to the general public, the process that usually ends-up in prolonged wait time for the end-users.

HTC says Android 4.0 update coming in March to select models

Considering that the white HTC Sensation is shipping in Europe starting March 1st with Android 4.0, it might be no surprise that the Sensation series will be the first HTC phones to be updated to the latest Android version. Starting at the end of next month, the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE will be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich with the HTC Sensation XL receiving it shortly afterward.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners, here is a bit of news that might be of interest to you. An early Android 4.0.4 ROM has showed up on the XDA Developers forum, and those of you who are a bit more tech inclined are free to give it a shot.
According to the guys who have already tried it out, the leaked update brings a bunch of improvements, among which a shorter boot time, increased in-call volume, and a boost in signal strength. Besides, the new radios that come along make switching between 3G and 4G much more seamless. Overall, everything seems noticeably faster, and a number of bugs have been squashed.
Now for the tricky part, this Android 4.0.4 update will work only on the stock Verizon version...

Even though LG announced Gingerbread update for the Optimus 3D smartphone almost 3 months ago, some carrier-specific models still didn’t get it. White HTC Sensation with Android 4.0 ICS coming March 1 (Update: No ICS)

HTC has announced that it will offer its Sensation smartphone in "ice white" come March 1. What is more interesting, however, is that this version of the Sensation (which was originally announced way back in April 2011) will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich already installed, making it the first HTC device with Android 4.0 on the market. The new ice white Sensation was announced in the Netherlands, but we would be surprised if HTC didn't bring it to every market that the original Sensation is available in. HTC isn't stiffing existing Sensation owners either, as it says an upgrade to Android 4.0 will be available for their handsets soon.

Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S on AT&T finding Google Wallet available

There hasn't been any official announcement, but suddenly today the Google Wallet app has started showing up for certain devices on a specific carrier, and amazingly enough, the carrier is one of the major backers of the ISIS NFC payment system.
That carrier is of course AT&T and the devices are the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S. Google Wallet had come up as unavailable for users before, but now AT&T customers with those devices can get the app. It was tested by both Droid Life and Engadget, and Engadget even found that if you swap an AT&T SIM into a GSM Galaxy Nexus, you can download the Wallet app, and it will still work even after swapping back to a T-Mobile SIM card.

Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” is now available on the first non-Nexus phone in the world, but it’s not from Samsung or HTC, as you might expect. Instead, Huawei can lay claim to the honour of being first out of the gate, while almost everyone else was stuck showing off new Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” phones at CES two weeks ago.
The rather charming Huawei Honor, with a 4-inch display, 1.4GHz processor and 8-megapixel camera is the first phone to ship with Android Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, apart from the Google-backed Samsung Galaxy Nexus (The older Nexus S has also already received the update).

You know how they say – better late than never. That seems to be exactly what LG is thinking when it finally decided to release a Gingerbread update for its Optimus Black smartphone. Not sure why it took them so long, but the good thing is that the new Android version is now available to download. Android 4.0 updates coming to Sony's tablets and Xperia phones this spring

Sony will update the company’s Tablet S, Tablet P and Xperia line of smartphones to Android 4.0 in the spring, according to The Verge. Both tablets are already running Ice Cream Sandwich and are currently being tested behind the scenes. The company did not give a specific release date, however it plans to add “some really cool unique bits” to both tablets on top of the update. Last fall, Sony confirmed that its entire 2011 Xperia portfolio would receive an Android 4.0 update at a later date. Phones set to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update include the Xperia Arc, Arc S, Play, Neo, Neo V, Mini, Mini Pro, Active and Ray, as well as Sony Ericsson’s Live Walkman.

Canada’s TELUS is rolling out an OTA update for the HTC Desire HD, bringing the smartphone up to Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
