Toshiba and Lenovo have reportedly signed deals with contractor Quanta Computer for production of new tablets based on the Windows 8 on ARM architecture. Toshiba Portege M930 slider laptop caught ahead of release
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksToshiba
Toshiba hasn't officially announced the Toshiba Portege M930, but that didn't stop Microsoft showing off the new sliding laptop on its stand at CES over in Las Vegas. The new mystery model sports a similar design to the Asus Eee Pad Slider released last year and the Sony Vaio laptop concept, also on display at the show. While specs are limited we do know a couple of things aside from the rather unusual hinge design that sees the screen face outwards or inwards when closed.

Toshiba Camileo Z100 full HD 3D camcorder unveiled
Like UnlikeFiled in: CamcordersToshibaCamileo Z100 3D
Toshiba has unleashed its first full HD 3D camcorder in the shape of the Toshiba Camileo Z100. Not only can the camcorder capture dazzling (apparently) 3D, but it can also play it back on the 7.1cm glasses-free 3D touchscreen. Now that's multi-tasking. The dual lens system also offers 8x digital zoom, full HD 2D capture (1920 x 1080 at 30fps) and can take still pictures up to 16MP.

Toshiba's 2012 line of Blu-ray players will support DLNA streaming, as well as the now-standard Netflix, Vudu, and YouTube playback. The 2D and 3D players will match the design of the company's Aero LED TVs and come in Wi-Fi ready models available in April and Wi-Fi enabled versions coming in May. Pricing hasn't been announced, but we may be able to find out today on the floor at CES.

Toshiba's 55-inch 4K glasses-free 3DTV ships in the US early this year, can we borrow $10k?
Like UnlikeFiled in: TVsToshiba
It's not a big surprise after launching in Germany and Japan, but Toshiba PR has confirmed to us and CNET that the company's 3,840x2,160 resolution autostereoscopic 3DTV will make its US debut in the first quarter of 2012, matching the "end of fiscal year" prediction we'd heard previously. There's no details on pricetag or model #, but given its $10,000~ sticker price overseas, we'd start shaking out those couch cushions now. The LCD maintains its QuadHD resolution when displaying 2D content, however switching into 3D mode drops the resolution to 720p. Other than removing the need for viewers to wear glasses to see the effect, it also uses face tracking to fine tune the experience for up to ...

Toshiba prototype ultrabook shows Windows 8 specs
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftToshibaWindows 8
We just got through with a hands-on look at Toshiba’s latest ultrabook, this time an unnamed prototype model with a 14 inch screen. The notable thing about it isn’t the hardware (which, we admit, is pretty awesome) but the early version of Windows 8 that’s running on it. Have a peek below and see what Toshiba has in mind for 2012.

Toshiba Excite X10 tablet gets release and price info
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsToshibaExcite X10
The tag line for the Toshiba Excite X10 tablet has been that it will be the "thinnest and lightest" 10" tablet, but even before its official announcement it saw some competition on those claims from the Lenovo IdeaTab S2. The S2 has been announced as a 10" tablet at .3" thick and 1.1 pounds, while the Excite X10 is said to be .3" thick and 1.2 pounds. More exact millimeter measurements may show which is really the thinnest, but we're not sure how the weight war could change.

Toshiba promises world's thinnest and lightest 10.1-inch tablet and 13.3-inch Ultrabook, 55-inch QFHD TV, other wonderment for CES
Like UnlikeFiled in: TVsNotebooksToshiba
It's dangerous to throw titles like "world's thinnest" and "world's lightest" around at events like CES -- what was a record breaker on Tuesday morning has a tendency to look a bit portly by Wednesday afternoon. But, never mind the caution, here comes Toshiba pledging both the thinnest and the lightest 10.1-inch tablet and 13.3-inch Ultrabook (though that latter one could just be referring to the Portege Z835 we've already reviewed). We'll have to wait a few days for any further details, though. The company is also promising to show off an OLED reference tablet with waterproof construction and wireless power plus a 55-inch QFHD television with glasses-free 3D. No world records there, but it ...

Toshiba NB510 Netbook Pictured
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksToshibaNB510
Here are some of the first pictures of Toshiba's NB510 netbook, which will be released at CES, next week. The NB510 will be a middle-ground in terms of value and features, in between the NB520 and NB500 launched in late-2010, although it's driven by the latest 3rd generation Atom processors. This 10-incher sports a display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, and is driven by Atom N2600 or N2800 processors; along with 1 GB of DDR3-800 MHz memory, 320 GB storage, and Windows 7 Starter Edition making up its feature-set. Available in three color options, its prices start at around US $400.

Toshiba readying the world’s thinnest 10.1-inch tablet for CES
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsToshiba
Toshiba is taking a bit of a risk here with the bold statement that they are getting ready to unveil the thinnest and the lightest 10.1-inch tablet at CES next week especially since their latest effort, the Android-powered Thrive wasn’t exactly on the thin or light side.
As far as specs go there isn’t anything to go along with this statement. Just the other day a benchmark showed a quad-core Toshiba tablet which could very well be the one that they are touting as the thinnest and lightest. The benchmark results were similar to what has been seen with the Asus Transformer Prime, which is the first quad-core tablet to hit the market.

Benchmark test results suggest quad-core Toshiba tablet in works
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsToshibanVIDIA
Looks like Toshiba has a quad-core tablet coming, powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3. Using the code name of "toshiba06", a common early code name for Toshiba tablets, the device was put through the paces at the AnTuTu benchmark web site. The results showed a processor clock speed of 1.4GHz and like the rest of the benchmark test, produced results similar to that scored by the Asus Transformer Prime. Considering that the latter is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 3, it is possible that the Toshiba unit has the same processor under the hood.

Toshiba's Thrive 7-inch tablet goes on sale today for $379.99
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsToshibaTHRiVE
Toshiba promised two things when it announced its Thrive 7-inch tablet in September: an early December arrival and a less-than-$400 price. And today it's delivering on both of those. The 16GB, Android 3.2, Tegra 2-powered tablet should be popping up in stores today for $379.99. The 32GB version will be selling for $429.99. For those that want a refresher, the tablet is a lot like the orginal Thrive in terms of design (it even has a 1280 x 800 resolution 7-inch display), though we're hopeful the charging issues and poor battery life have been excised. Our review unit just arrived, so you may just want to hold tight for that before you start pull out the plastic, but if you simply can't wait t...

Toshiba announces 6.1 inch LCD panel, 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution
Like UnlikeFiled in: Toshiba
When Apple introduced the iPhone 4 roughly 16 months ago, they couldn’t shut up about the 3.5 inch “retina display”. After having used that display for over a year, this writer has become the biggest pixel density fanboi lucky enough to have a soap box to stand on that’s read by millions of people every month. Once you break the 300 pixel per inch barrier, there’s no going back, which is why we were floored when Samsung and Google announced the Galaxy Nexus last week in Hong Kong.

Toshiba AT200 tablet squeezes through 7.7mm gap at the FCC
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsToshibaAT200
News about Toshiba's ultra-thin AT200 tablet has been patience-testingly slow since we went hands-on at IFA a month ago. We did recently hear that a Japanese variant of the Regza-branded ten-incher -- confusingly called the AT700 -- is on schedule for release there in December and we're hoping that the US version will arrive in time for Christmas too. Encouraging, then, to see that it's passed unscathed through the FCC's electromagnetic rendition of Wipeout with WiFi and Bluetooth in tow. The submitted paperwork also reveals a little extra detail: the tablet is at least partly manufactured by Quanta, the same OEM guys behind the Kindle Fire and the BlackBerry PlayBook. With the tablet wars l...
