HP ENVY 5660 Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

Historically, our major objection to these Envy models (as well as competitors with similarly inflated ink prices) has been that they simply cost too much to use. The best news about this Envy? If you stay within HP’s recommended duty cycle (the manufacturer’s maximum number of pages it suggests limiting printing to each month) of 300 to 400 pages, you can keep the per-page cost down to just over 3 cents each—be they monochrome business documents, color-heavy business documents or drawings, or even high-resolution, letter-size (8.5x11-inch) photos.Keeping in mind that 8.5x11-inch photos can cost a dollar or more in ink—easily—when you’re using the traditional off-the-shelf cartridges, you can score a real deal in ongoing ink costs here if you opt for Instant Ink, assuming you do make consistent use of it month-in, month-out. If you print at least a handful of photo images every month, your per-page ink price should average out to be quite low. Granted, the lack of an ADF will be a deal-breaker for many would-be users, especially with so many models out there in the same price range that don’t demand that particular trade-off. But 3.3-cent photos may be a strong enough incentive to overlook the missing document feeder, and plenty else, too. However, keep in mind that some of HP’s other models (including some with ADFs, such as the HP Photosmart 7520 mentioned earlier) also support the Instant Ink program.
