For $1,399 from Best Buy (or discounted a few bucks below that at this writing in early September 2014), the Lenovo Erazer X510 is a solid consumer gaming rig. But it's not a game-changing one. Sure, the ability to overclock by pressing a button is a nifty feature. But considering the ample base speed of the system's Core i7 chip, it's also a gimmick we'd gladly trade for a faster graphics card. True tinkerers will want more control or flexibility than Lenovo's overclocking scheme provides, while casual users expecting a night-and-day difference may find the results underwhelming. Still, the Erazer's several impressive features—such as its mouse, keyboard, and swappable drive bay—make it worth a look by moderate gamers. Hardcore gamers will probably prefer to shop the boutique brands.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Lenovo is back for another crack at the ready-to-buy gaming desktop market with the Erazer X510 ($1,449.99 as tested). This funky- looking midrange gaming rig benefits from refinements over the previous Lenovo Erazer X700$1,139.93 at Amazon, while staying firmly in the entry-level price range and offering decent (albeit not stellar) performance and expandability. It doesn't best our Editors' Choice, the CyberPower Zeus Mini in terms of overall value, but it's a safe purchase for anyone who wants to get into gaming and possibly delve into tweaking and tuning later on.
