Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4630 Pro Reviews

The WorkForce Pro WF-4630 is a solid printer for small businesses and workgroups given its fast print speeds, solid print qualities and remote printing and scanning capabilities. Using the larger XL print cartridges, the WF-4630 delivers economical print costs that rival laser printers.

We certainly found a lot to like about Epson’s WorkForce Pro 4630. In fact, this is one of those rare reviews where we just couldn’t find anything to complain about. What we appreciated most of all, though, is that here’s a high-volume printer with a high-volume cost per page to match. It’s not often that you’ll find a $299-MSRP multifunction printer with a monochrome CPP of under 2 cents and a color CPP under 10 cents. As mentioned earlier, only HP’s much-more-expensive PageWide-based models deliver better CPPs. It's enough of a difference that should you, in fact, print thousands of pages each month, the cost savings on the HP machine might be significant. That said, you’d have to print quite a bit to make up the $500-or-so difference between these two printers. Besides, at the time of this writing, Epson was offering a $110 “instant rebate” on the WorkForce Pro WF-4630, reducing the sale price on this impressive high-volume workhorse to $189.99—an unheard-of price for a multifunction machine with such low CPPs. We think it’s a relative bargain even at the MSRP. Several high-volume printers out there today deliver impressive results. But for small businesses or homes with fairly hefty monthly printing needs that include color pages, Epson’s PrecisionCore-based WorkForce Pro WF-4630 All-in-One Printer has, in terms of performance and cost of operation, simply raised the bar—a lot—at its price point.
