Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ40 Pro Reviews

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Panasonic Lumix LZ40 offers a decent amount of optical zoom with a 42x optical zoom lens, and is reasonable value for money. Colour is generally good in images, although noise is noticeable at all ISO settings, so images will look best when shared to the web where resized photos will look better. The biggest issue is that there are a number of alternatives available, with others offering either more optical zoom, and / or FullHD video, and some even offer built-in Wi-Fi. The LZ40 would definitely be better if it didn't have a 20 megapixel CCD sensor, as this results in images with lots of noise, which negatively affects image quality. One of the most impressive features of the camera, is its macro performance - the camera can focus on subjects just 1cm away from the front of the lens, and when using up to 11x optical zoom, it's also possible to focus on subjects that are 10cm away from the camera, which means it's possible to take some impressive, albeit noisy, macro photos.
