SANYO Xacti VPC-HD2000 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Despite its impressive specifications, the VPC-HD2000 isn't the best HD camcorder we've seen, and it's only passable as a stills camera.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

We’re not sure whether we’d pay £500 for a combined camera and video camera given the low cost of flash-based camcorders, but if you’ve the budget for an HD model, the Sanyo Xacti HD2000 won’t disappoint. If the high megapixel count is less important than high-definition recording on a sleek device, you may prefer Sony's similarly priced TG3.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

I think the performance of the Xacti HD2000 as a stills camera needs some definite improvement but it is essentially a camcorder so the priority must lie there. You wouldn't expect a still camera to record better video than stills.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 is chunkily stylish with its handgun grip extending out to a barrel of an f1.8 lens. All the controls are located at the rear and proffer switches and buttons for all your handling needs including operation of the 16x optical zoom. The HD2000 is aimed at the casual user, and its easy operation and good HD pictures should keep those on a budget happy.

Unwieldy and with a fiddly menu system, but a wide range of manual controls and high quality video and stills more than compensate.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

There's no doubt that the Sanyo Xacti HD2000 has cleverly packed in more features than you'd expect from its gadget-y looking exterior, and fun to use it is too. But, if you've £549 to spend and your bias is towards still images, there are very obviously better options for you than the HD2000, not least when that price would pay for a starter DSLR and kit lens with change to spare.

Register Hardware‘s review Edit

A little pricey with sluggish autofocus in low light and can't save user settings, but technically mostly hits the spot.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

With each new model, Sanyo gets that little bit closer to producing a camcorder to compete with the best available. The Xacti VPC-HD2000 is another step in the right direction. We still don't like the fact that no 50fps version more suited to European standards is available, and image quality hasn't quite entered the top league just yet.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

At £549, plus the PC or Mac you are no doubt going to have to buy to actually edit the footage you've captured, the Sanyo VPC-DH2000 is a nice camera, but one that you'll probably find you aren't making full use of.
