Dell XPS 8700 Special Edition Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

Bottom line? Clearly, Dell is not immune from the cost-cutting bug, but it made enough smart moves along the way in the loadout of the XPS 8700 Special Edition to keep us content and quiet. (Mostly quiet, anyway, considering our gripes about the lone graphics-card slot and disappearance of the discrete audio-card option.) For the most part, the XPS 8700 Special Edition does a fine job of fitting between basic towers like the Asus M51AC-US016S and hardcore gaming rigs from the likes of Alienware, Digital Storm, and Falcon Northwest. Our benchmarks show that a step up from mSATA to a primary SSD is in order. Otherwise, we like the inclusion of 802.11n and WiDi, look askance at some wasted space inside the tower, and are pleased with the system's overall performance. If you opt for the XPS 8700 Special Edition, you'll likely sleep well knowing you got a fair price on a good system.
