Samsung Galaxy Fame Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

There's nothing wrong with a cheap, functional smartphone, and the Galaxy Fame is exactly that. The trouble is that even at this price the Fame is being squeezed out by much better phones that cost roughly the same amount. Windows-toting Lumia 520 is a much better performer at a similar size, and the Moto's E and -G knock the Fame for six. It's not a bad deal, but for just a tiny bit more there are better deals to be had.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Samsung Galaxy Fame is not a phone that will live forever, and it hasn't quite learned to fly. It is clear from the very outset that Samsung has used the ingredients to create a lower-end smartphone, such as the smaller internal chipset, the smaller screen and the low internal storage. In doing so the Samsung Galaxy Fame, in a continuation of the Samsung Galaxy range's design, feels a little underpowered. The feel of the Samsung Galaxy Fame, with the TouchWiz interface and external design, is reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, and makes you want to see it as a more expensive handset. The smaller chipset generally nipped along fairly well when swiping between home screens, but when waking up to the camera or loading slightly larger apps, the Samsung Galaxy Fame struggled really quite noticeably, to the point where we were feeling rather frustrated. We can see the Samsung Galaxy Fame selling a fair few units, especially given its super low price tag, and we don't see that as a bad thing, given that the majority of users will likely be young, and wanting a way of connecting to Facebook, but for anything more substantial, the handset really struggles.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Samsung Galaxy Fame's software package and commendable performance from a single-core processor make it a an interesting device, but it's currently at a price point where more capable competition can be found. It's stripped-down Young sibling will nab the most frugal of shoppers, while more powerful competitors from Nokia - as well as last year's midrange Android offerings - mean that the Galaxy Fame has to undergo a price readjustment if it has any hopes of doing well this summer.

A budget phone with Samsung’s excellent build quality, but poor performance and a short battery life detract from it

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

Will Samsung's Galaxy Fame soon be a little star that everyone desires? Its stylish casing's solid build, handy design, the screen's high brightness and current low street price of approximately EUR 150 that includes a 5 megapixel camera and LED flash plus autofocus point to this. Nevertheless, the path to fame could get a bit rough for Samsung's smartphone. The SoC does not supply much performance. Although it is enough for the operating system, booting takes a long time and there is not much power for games that are especially popular among younger customers. Apart from the maximum brightness, the screen also has quite a few downsides in form of a low resolution, weak lateral viewing angles and distorted colors. The battery runtimes are also at most middling and there are no accessories include. Customers however get annoying bloatware. Buyers who do not want to spend more than around EUR 200 for a smartphone will receive a deal from Samsung that clearly shows where compromises have to be made in this price range. However, first-time smartphone users looking for a handy and stylish device and do not expect top performance from a cellphone, rarely surf on the Internet and do not fancy games will find a solid smartphone with a few interesting features.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Low-end Android smartphones are never perfect, but they aren't really meant to be. Rather, these handsets need to be just good enough to suit the needs of budget-conscious consumers. Does the Samsung Galaxy Fame fit the bill? Well, based on our experience with it we'd say that it's a nice entry-level device that will probably get the attention of the younger crowd and the ladies, in particular. We are genuinely pleased with its design and the good quality of its photos is a nice addition to its feature set. Just make sure your eyes can handle its low-quality display before reaching for your wallet. Checking out some alternatives to the Samsung Galaxy Fame would also be a good idea before getting one. For example, we'd recommend taking a look at the Sony Xperia miro, which is very similar in terms of specs and costs about the same, if not less than the Fame. The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 might be over a year old now, but it has better specs and also carries a similar price tag. In case your budget can handle it, then you might want to check out the HTC Desire X as it shouldn't cost considerably more despite being superior to the Galaxy Fame in a number of ways.
