ASUS ROG Orion PRO Pro Reviews

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

Having completely despised the Vulcan ANC headset from ASUS, I honestly expected – and was ready to – hate this headset as well. However, I was completely blown away by the ROG Orion Pro headset. It was beyond my expectations in sound, depth, and overall performance/ease of use. I wanted to hate them after the Vulcan ANC headset had disappointed me so much, but I just couldn't. The sound quality and depth of songs just left me in awe with the Orion Pro headset. These little guys will be travelling with me next week for work and have a nice little home here at my gaming computer for late night battles with my friends. I honestly can't put too many words with this headset; the sound is just remarkable for the price and comfort. They just seem surreal.

No matter what application I had opened, the ASUS Orion Pro gaming headset performed brilliantly. The 50mm neodymium magnet speaker drivers deliver the 7.1 Virtual surround that brings audio to life. The 30dB of passive noise cancellation does a better than average job eliminating ambient noise. Its strongest quality is the advantage it gives to FPS gamers, yet, I did not experience anything that I would label as a challenge for this headset in terms of performance. The ASUS Orion Pro looks the part of a high-end gaming headset. The high-gloss black and matte black surfaces, along with the addition of red accents, were smartly utilized by the designers and resulted in a stylish look. The ROG logo on the outside of the ear cups was placed on a reflective surface, which looks sharp. The braided cord and the protein leather really add to the quality appearance. The first impression I had of the ASUS Orion Pro gaming headset after taking it out of the retail box was that it was a quality product. One of the objectives, which was achieved, was to make this headset lightweight, yet, it still maintains a very solid feel. It is constructed mainly of plastic to keep weight down, but the business ends of the ASUS Orion Pro utilize other materials. The ear pads are covered in protein leather, which is soft and breathable.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Asus has long been seen as a top motherboard and graphics card manufacturer, but increasingly it's diverging out into a much broader space. We've seen it produce fantastic laptops and recently some excellent 120Hz monitors. It's also been quietly producing brilliant sound cards for the last few years, so it should come as no surprise that headsets are also on the menu.

With the Orion Pro, ASUS has proven that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get adaptability, surround sound capabilities and high quality sound fidelity via an analog connection. It is tailor made for consumers who need a simple, easy to use headset which can be used on a wide array of computer systems. If you can afford the $110 asking price, this ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ headset will provide years of music and gaming enjoyment.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

There's a lot to like about the Orion Pro headset. Importantly, sound quality is decent and it also provides a comfortable experience even in extended sessions. The USB sound processor is a great addition too, making the process of sound adjustment simple but mostly effective, although the lack of software customistation may be an irk for some. Your £80 will net you a very good headset, then, the flimsy microphone, the lack of active noise cancellation and the superior sound quality of the equally priced Vulcan mean it will also buy you a better one.
