Yamaha YAS-101 Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

In smaller rooms, the Yamaha YAS-101 delivers impressive value for the dollar. It sounds like a more expensive system, and since there's no subwoofer, it can fit into just about any decor when placed underneath an HDTV.

The Yamaha YAS-101 Front Surround System is an affordable, versatile audio enhancement that pairs well with a big flat-screen TV, both esthetically and sonically. It will surely open up your television audio in ways that your television never could on its own, and any glitches in setup or limitations in day-to-day use will likely be outweighed by the host of clever capabilities lurking inside. The sound quality nor surround effects won’t outperform a good budget receiver and speakers, but at $300, this Yamaha is a respectable replacement for your TV’s built-in speakers.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The fact that two-channel music sounds no more than passable on the YAS-101 isn't a huge knock, since it's a shortcoming of sound bars in general. When used in its intended environment (small to midsize rooms) and at moderate volume levels, the YAS-101 delivers excellent sound quality for movies in a compact and affordable package. Add in the nifty remote feature and the no-hassle built-in subwoofer, and you're looking at one of the best all-around sound bars you can get for $250.

Good bang for buck, looks nice, but don’t ditch your surround speakers since this won’t be able to match or replace that audio experience.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

If Yamaha’s aim was to create a full sounding, self-contained, slim sound bar solution at an accessible price, we’d say they pretty much nailed it on the head with the YAS-101. Though not without its limitations, we think this sound bar does more with one box than some solutions do with two and, at $300, we think this will make an attractive add-on for those who demand better sound than their TV can provide on its own, but don’t have much space to give up. For now, the YAS-101 is the one-piece entry level sound bar to beat.
