Last month, we reported that RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9790 was expected to become available in the UK sometime in January, following its scheduled release in Indonesia and Singapore this month, but we’ve been in the dark on an exact date to that reality.
Fortunately, UK consumers are now given a clear date of January 9th – that’s when the SIM-free version of the latest Bold handset is expected to become available for purchase in the good old UK. Interested in picking up this one? Well, retailer MobileFun will begin accepting orders for the smartphone on that date, where it’s given a price tag of £399.95 ($624). The launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9790 in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta on Friday gave RIM a rare Apple-like level of demand that also took an unfortunate turn. A report from the event through the Jakarta Globe had up to 90 people face minor injuries like broken bones after a crush and queue jumping triggered by a rumor spread that the Pacific Place Mall store wouldn't have enough of the new smartphone to supply everyone. RIM Unveils The BlackBerry Bold 9790 And Curve 9380

We may have gotten a glimpse at what RIM has planned for the future, but for now RIM devotees will have to make do with a new pair of current-gen BlackBerrys. The new Bold 9790 and the Curve 9380 both run RIM’s BlackBerry 7 OS, but that’s about where the similarities stop.
As the model number suggests, the 9790 is an extension of RIM’s pint-sized 9700 series. The Bold 9790 sticks with the tried-and-true BlackBerry design, albeit with some revamped buttons that caused a bit of a stir when they were first spotted. Unlike the other BB7-powered Bold, the 9790 sports a smaller 2.44-inch 360×480 display, a 1GHz processor, and 8GB of internal storage.

The official BlackBerry Indonesia site has posted a teaser banner for a new handset coming first to the region on November 25. The image file name is “hero_bellagio”, which we’ve known to be the code name for the BlackBerry Bold 9790 for months now.
From what we’ve seen of the 9790, there won’t be much separating it from the 9900, aside from a more slight form factor. There’s going to be 8 GB of local storage, OS 7, and the same 2.4-inch 640 x 480 display. The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is due for a launch sooner than later, if RIM’s latest blog posts are any indication, but some fresh pictures are showing us that the hardware layout may have significantly changed from what we had seen since the phone made its first appearance five months ago.
The navigation keys in the middle are no longer a seamless part of the front face, but instead look a lot like the Torch 9850 / 60. RIM has revealed some basic display specs of its upcoming BlackBerry Curve 9380 and Bold 9790 to developers so they can get a head start on developing apps for the devices. Both smartphones will run on the BlackBerry 7 OS, N4BB reported. The Curve 9380's 3.2-inch screen will have a screen resolution of 480x360, just like the Torch 9800.
A previous report has the device also getting an 800MHz processor, a five-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, 1GB of built-in memory, and an NFC radio.

RIM's Inside BlackBerry Developer's Blog is giving a heads up to those interested in writing apps for a pair of new BlackBerry devices soon to be released.
