When 720p displays are no longer deemed as unique, we sometimes forget that the LG Nitro HD was actually the first AT&T smartphone to offer one – then again, it’s still sporting Gingerbread. So yeah, some people have probably tried looking at other things to quench their thirst for the latest and greatest Android build.

In case you forget that AT&T's latest LTE-equipped smartphone hit shelves today, consider this a friendly reminder from your mobile obsessed friends here at Engadget.We're talking about the LG's Nitro HD, the 4.5-inch device we lovingly handled last week -- loaded with a skinned version of Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, running atop its peppy 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core processor. If you'll recall, it's notably packing a 1280 x 720p screen resolution with an ultra-crisp looking 329ppi, an 8 megapixel rear camera (1.3 MP up front) and a healthy 4GB of internal storage supplemented by an included 16GB microSD card (expandable to 32GB). AT&T today announced the LG Nitro HD, a new Android smartphone that supports AT&T's Long Term Evolution 4G and HSPA+ networks, and includes a 4.5-inch AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) display with 1280 x 720 pixels for HD resolution. LG says the display offers 500 nit brightness, which lets it be used in direct sunlight, and RGB stripe pixels, which it says offer better color representation. Other features of the Nitro HD include a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 8-megapixel camera, 4GB of built-in memory (plus microSD support), Wi-Fi Direct, and DLNA. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
