On-board LAN chip problem

Posted by T-Rex on Jul 08, 2011

My on-board LAN chip blew out and my Windows can't start and restarts. I wanted to disable on-board LAN, but didn't find it in BIOS. How I can take away or disable the LAN so my Win stop restarting?

Problem solved

Level 4 While in BIOS - ctrl+F1- Gigabyte's motherboards have some hidden features. There should be option to disable onboard LAN

Level 7 Use cbrom. Whit this program you can remove LAN ROM module from the BIOS. First see the list with modules and are you sure there is no disable?

Level 6 I'm not sure where exactly it is in your bios, but on mine there is an option to whether your pc will restart on error detection. Mine had: halt on all errors, all but keyboard and none. Try it, your pc should boot up nicely.

Level 9 I guess that your LAN blew up during a storm or sth...anyways LANs rarely die from anything than electricity, so have you considered that there might be other damages to the motherboard, like blown capacitors for example...it is a common problem after electric shock and the symptoms are the same as you describe them :) You can check by yourself look for something like:
