What about this Thunderbolt technology?

Has anyone know something about this technology? Why Apple don't use USB 3, like everyone else ?

Thunderbolt is two times faster than USB 3.0 and has a lot more features then only data transfer. You can read more here http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/intel-thunderbolt-in-apple-macbook-pro-explained-931050?src=rss&attr=all

i.e. this is not Apple'' technology but Intel's. I can't understand what is their goal, by using Thunderbolt...

I think it has a lot of potential, but I don't think it will be widespread, this requires manufacturers to begin making thunderbolt devices to be used on a handful of laptops. I just can't see it happening in the next 1-2 year. Good technology, but USB 3.0 will kill it as it is already on many devices.

It will eventually be implemented in more devices in the near future, Apple are just the first one to out a laptop featuring the technology. Same as with the iPods. They got FireWire technology for music transfers, which was times faster than the USB version available at that time.

If it was so good technology, I think Intel would use it a long time ago...
