Canon EOS 7D Questions & Answers

What is the difference between full frame camera sensor and other DSLR sensors?

Posted by superuser on Mar 07, 2012

Looked at short video comparing EOS 7D to EOS 5D Mark II and the 7D was far superior in almost everything but the sensor -- and only because of that it was the reviewers choice. What exactly is making the full frame sensor that desirable and should anyone starting with amateur photography look into this when considering their first DSLR?

Level 7 Advantages of full frame - wide-angle lenses designed for full frame cameras, depth of field - it's less when you use same lenses with full frame camera sensor and other DSLR sensor, larger pixel size and more. In general full frame sensor is good for landscapes for example and crop sensor for macros. It's not so easy to distinguish the two types, but this is how I understand it :)

Level 5 Full frame = way larger sensor than the APS-C ones (used in most budget-mid-range DSLRs). Way better quality and no crop factor there, so if you put 17mm lens it is 17mm, not ~24-5mm as with APS-C.

p.s. aren't both 5D Mark II and 7D full frame?

Level 1 the main general diff b/w 7d and 5d mark II is that , 7d is a semi professional camera and 5d mark II is a full professional camera ,
this is a fact as listed by the canon itself in its official site ..
anyways , both give u magnificent image capture quality ..
