Comscore has released their monthly market share numbers, and confirms the recent Nielsen research showing Windows Phone 7 is not growing in USA.
They reveal 76.8 million people in USA own smartphones, up 11% from 3 months earlier, and Microsoft’s share of that installed base continues to drop rapidly, now sitting at 5.8% or 4.45 million users. This is down 0.9% from 6.7% the previous month.
The effect is likely due to the lack of new Windows Phone 7 handsets being released into the market regularly, unlike on Android, something which will not be as much of an issue next year, when handsets will be released throughout the year rather than in a single wave.
