Does the Touch require a Data Plan?

I've read on some forums the Touch requires a data plan. Verizon will automatically bill you, and most people don't know. Is this true?

Yeah its $9.99 a month and it gives you 25megabytes of usage.

That is affirmative.. You are pretty much gonna have a data plan unless you want one of their "feature phones" that is basic phone with sms and mms.

That isn't true! My cousin has an LG Touch, and I asked her about it. She said that she doesn't have a Data Plan for the phone, and checks her Bill carefully every month. Verizon will add miscellaneous fees!

I work for verizon. When the touch first launched it didn't require a data plan but a few months later they made it required. those who bought the phone before the data plan went into affect don't have to get it.
