Who buys GPS devices nowadays?

With the development of smartphones and a lot of GPS applications for iOS, Android, Windows...I'm curious, who buys GPS devices? I'm not talking about special GPS for mountain routes, for example, but the regular ones for cars.

There are cheap units as well for as little as $70. GPS navigations are a good thing for people like my father, who can't get around a smartphone and I can't imagine him using one anytime soon.
